The Empowerment of the Next Generation of Researchers

On the occasion of the Italian EU Presidency Conference on 18-19 November 2014 on Empowering the Next Generation of Researchers, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions will hold its second Awards Ceremony of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Prizes

The overall theme of the EU2014 conference “The Empowerment of the Next Generation of Researchers Promoting talents, spreading excellence” is to discuss and reflect on how programmes for researcher training, recruitment and career development empower the next generation of researchers to be successful, no matter how society and the economy evolve.

Major issues such as skills, mobility and gender balance will be explored from this angle. The conference will focus on the policy issues for policy-makers, funders and businesses contributing to research training, as well as universities and research institutes.

A large audience from across Europe and beyond will address key issues related to the conference theme.

The conference will also feature the award of the 2014 Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions prizes for three different categories:

  • “Promising research talents” awarded to a particularly ‘high-flying’ fellow
  • “Communicating science” recognising the best researcher in outreach and science communication
  • “Nurturing research talent” for particularly supporting new entrants to the research profession
