Informing the creation of a European Reference Framework for Age-Friendly Housing

Launch of the European initiative on Age-Friendly Homes

On April 7th 2016, DG Connect and DG Grow of the European Commission in collaboration with Utrecht University and Creative Skills for Life hosted a ‘Meeting of Minds’ that took a fresh look at innovating smarter new built and retro-fit home environments.

70+ European thought leaders and entrepreneurs from various sectors gathered to share their views on the most exciting developments in ‘agile ageing’, smarter homes, new financing models and urban retrofitting.
The meeting was the starting point of a European roadshow of interconnected Open Innovation Workshops designed to involve key stakeholders in an ongoing and sustainable dialogue about a European Reference Framework for Age-friendly Housing.

It will explore how we can stimulate a much needed response to the growing need of residential propoerties suitable to accommodate a growing ageing population.
