For the 4th time after the successful meetings in 1981, 1994 and 2006, Montpellier is privileged to organize the symposium on “New Horizons on Hearing Rehabilitation” and the 53th Inner Ear Biology workshop*
The symposium on “New Horizons on Hearing Rehabilitation” that will take place on Sept 18th aims to promote the dialogue between experimental and clinical audiology focused on the latest advances and future directions in hearing rehabilitation, from conventional hearing aids and cochlear implants to optogenetics. The 53rd Inner Ear Biology workshop will be dedicated to the most recent developments in genetics, molecular and cell physiology (mechanotransduction and synaptic transmission), pathophysiology (noise, ototoxicity, and aging), and innovative therapies (pharmacological, gene et cell therapies).
Located on the Mediterranean seashore, Montpellier (pop. 270,000) stands as a recognized high-tech pole. However, the city keeps the spirit of the past, when doctors and scientists came from all around the world, to share their knowledge in medicine, law and philosophy: its Medical School has been running since the 12th century and now its Universities count more than 65,000 students.
